Food processor help please.

I'm going to make a lemon meringue pie for the family, and have a general idea of pastry making, but can someone please tell me which attachment i need in the food processor, is it the dough hook or the plastic blade! The processor is a "new" second hand toy,so I don't have instructions. TIA.

Not the dough hook - you only need that for bread.My food processor's blades are all metal but I assume the blade is what you would need.

Thanks. I've just realised we don't have caster sugar, would white sugar thrown throughthe blender work!

Use the metal blade to cut the butter through the flour and sugar.
Normal sugar will be fine in pastry, but if you want caster sugar just blitz normal.

Keep everything cold and handle as little as possible.You do not want to 'activate' the gluten when making pastry.
