Shortcrust pastry .

Know it sounds like a basic question but I'm new at this!
Am making my own shortcrust pastry, to use as base for a quiche.
Do I need to blindbake the "case" first, or can I just put the filling on and bake all at once!

if im putting ham or bacon in it,iblind bake justwith the meat then add the rest of the ingredients, seems to bring the flavour out in the meat,but im always taking short cuts, ex cafe cook
