Freezing a swede

Can a whole raw swede be chopped up into, say, six big chunks and then frozen without being blanched for use within a couple of weeks!

kaiser2, how do you plan to cook the swede after it has been frozen!
Sorry I can't help you re freezing a whole swede or pieces of swede but I can tell you that cooked mashed swede freezes perfectly, so could cooking your swede then freezing it be an option for you!

Hope that helps.:-))

I usually just boil it in chucks as I would a potato.

I have frozen swede cut into chunks and bagged up just ready to cook and it's fine.I just just pop into boiling water and cook as normal.

I do the same with mine as they are much sweeter after a frost and here in the NI, it is very hard to get good Southland swedes.
