Alternative to corn starch? Help Meeeeee :D :D

Im wanting to make this lemon meringue pie ~ http://www.nigella.com/recipes/view/my-favourite-lemon-meringue-pie-1140.

I have the pastry defrosted (cheating) but dont have any corn starch. I have banking soda would this work! I have *no idea* so any help would be AMAZING:)

cornflour is what's meant by cornstarch. Use that if you have it. Otherwise Regular flour would be a substitute. OR arrowroot. But certainly not soda.

DO NOT use baking soda!

In some cases custard powder can be used as a substitute for cornflour - custard powder is basically cornflour with added colour and flavour.:-))

Or potato starch can be used.
