I have been given one, without the basket.(I am happy to fish everything out with my strainer thingy - metal!)
But, what is the dial that reads 1-40.and do I leave the lid on or off.Do I leave the oil in permanently!
How long does it take to heat up!

mine has a red and a green light and i turn it on and it takes about 10minutes to get to the right heat to turn the green light on 4lts of oil then the big thing is not to over load it when cooking food
