Sauces etc not in fridge for a week

We are moving islands in a couple of weeks and not bothering with refridgerated transport for our fridge and freezer contents, so slowly eating our way through as much as possible, and will fob the rest off to family and friends. BUT hubby is a bit of a sauce afficienado and we have lots. and lots and lots of different sorts. Seems silly to throw out or give away them all. So was thinking they should all be ok if we take them out of the fridge on the fri or sat so we can defrost the fridge, then they get packed up in the trucks on monday to be delivered the next friday.
Thoughts!

missmoo4, do you have a good substantial chilly bin that would accommodate all those sauces +something that will assist in keeping the sauces as cold as poss.! e.g. icecream containers or plastic bottles filled with water and frozen solid - remembering that we are into the colder weather AND that unlike when camping, the lid of the chilly bin wouldn't be being opened, IMO the sauces should be ok and their icy accompaniment will last in its solid state for much of the week between the sauces' fridge storage.:-))

Yeah we have a chilly bin big enough, not sure how the moving company would like the idea of liquids (eventually) sloshing around in their truck, potentially ruining all our furniture. Might get hubby to email the moving company to ask their thoughts on that idea. CHeers

If the liquid was plastic bottles with a top firmly attache it should be okay.Oldsoft drink or milkbottles should be fine.Could the chilly bin travel with you! Also a good chance to cull hubby's collection

Prior to buying our first caravan we were dedicated 'tenters' and we did not have or use electricity on any of our camp sites - instead of actual refrigeration we relied entirely on a large chilly bin and ice in the form of 2 litre icecream containers. Our chilly bin was always one of the last things to be packed and even at the end of a long weekend (Easter = 5-6 days) we always had ice remaining in the icecream containers that provided the 'refrigeration' for all our food that would normally be kept in a fridge.I suggested icecream containers as an option for you because the bigger the container of ice, the longer it will stay frozen, especially as the chilly bin will not be being opened and closed as it was in our camping situation.I would suggest that the chilly bin lid is taped down or otherwise secured (e.g. bungy cords) to be sure that there is no chance of "liquids (eventually) sloshing around in their truck, potentially ruining all our furniture".

Hope that helps. All the best for the move.:-))

Funny how when I was growing up any sauces we had were kept in the cupboard or pantry. Now every thing has to be refrigerated after opening.
