Advice on cooking pastry.

Im making a pie with puff pastry.recipe says to use metal flan tin to ensure pastry base is cooked.i only have a pottery flan tin.any advice how i can ensure it cooks.! I can remember baking "blind" at school but can you do that with puff pastry!

I did this yesterday with a pottery flan dish. I put tinfoil over the pastry and put rice on top of it. First time I have ever done it and it worked really well. Spilled rice all over the kitchen though when I tried putting it back in the bag after it had cooled *duh*.
