The ones I have tasted appear to be marge (or butter whipped with water), icing sugar and coconut. Sometimes with raspberry flavouring.

The one I used to like best was like a mock cream covered with coconut.There are plenty of recipes for mock cream around

At the Sally Lunn Bun Shop in Bath (UK), there was no icing on the bun.Served toasted with jam and cream.
