Can I freeze uncooked toms/plums?

or will it be a distaster when I go to defrost and use for cooking the other end!

I throw them into the freezer whole, but my sister halves her plums and de-stone them so she can just grab some for things like desserts. They will be mushy on defrosting. Same with the tomatoes.

thanks creeky1 - just thrown them into the freezer! (too hot to making batch after batch of chutney and sauces)

I throw my plums straight into the freezer for the same reason (too hot now to bottle). Then I pull them out, put them straight into the big preserving pan and boil them and bottle them.

I froze some. Going to defrost, skin, remove some water and refreeze for sauces, puree, whatever later.

i freeze them whole, and with plums once they defrost they go mushy and i let them get mostly thawed and then as i put them into the pot i squeeze them and the stone comes out! and if using for jam etc i just use the stick blender to break up the skins and the whole thing comes out smooth
