Nicholson Oat Cakes . (like crackers) Q:

darlingmole, Feb 10, 10:22pm
200mls milk
130g butter
2 T sugar
2 & 1/2 t salt
1 t baking powder
1 C flour
4 & 1/3 C oats

Mix in food processor, roll out very think, cut into biscuits, bake at 200 deg C for 15-20 mins. These are salty savoury biscuits and Scottish in origin.
My question is:would I ruin the recipe by adding some cheese!

darlingmole, have you made/used the recipe previously! My preference with a 'new' recipe is always to make it exactly as per the recipe (unless I find that there is some very obvious flaw in the recipe) then I make alterations/substitutions on future occasions.I don't think you'd "ruin the recipe by adding some cheese" however you might like to consider substituting cheese for some of the butter, but IMO those biscuits are meant for simply being served buttered or with cheese.

Hope that helps.:-))

yep it helps 245sam - haven't tried making them yet but I'm sick of baking sweet stuff for the kiddies/teenagers/hubby and recently had these scrumptious cheesey homemade crackers and thought I'd give it a crack by altering this recipe.Stay tuned!
