greenforde, here's a microwave recipe that I kept from this MB - it's thanks to subo.

Golden Syrup or Jam Sponge Pudding[microwaved]
100g each ofbutter andsugar
2 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1¼ cups self-raising flour
¼-½ cup milk
approximately 4 tbsp golden syrup or jam

Melt the butter and sugar in the microwave.Beat in the eggs and vanilla.Fold in the flour and milk. Place the golden syrup or jam in the bottom of a greased 2 litre bowl or glass jug.Pour in the batter.Cover with plastic wrap or a plate and cook for5-6 minutes.

If you'd like a conventionally cooked one I'm happy to post one or more for you as well - I have several that I have saved over the years from previous threads here on the Recipe MB.:-))

I used to make the one from the edmonds cookbook called Dominion pudding steamed for around 1 and 1/4 hours!

The older Edmonds books also had a good ¾ hour steamed pudding that was easy. Had golden syrup sauce.
