Looking at buying icing nozzles

jolouise2, Feb 1, 8:41am
Hi, I am wanting to buy some Wilton nozzles, just for icing cakes and cupcakes but I am not sure what size would be best. Can anyone help! I have a cheap set but the nozzles seem too small and I can't seem to pipe very well. Thanks

Always stick with stainless steel nozzles and not plastic ones. Wilton are US made and are commonly available.Do not pay more than $3 a nozzle. There are also British made ones which are often up to $20 each. They come with the same universal sizing.
After experimenting a wee while, you can look for the highly decorative and specialist nozzles for high end work.

At the end of the day, the quality of your icing bag is also instrumental in delivering a good result. The bag has to hold up to the pressure you apply in ratio to the structure of the icing it contains.for example: a firm icing with a plastic nozzle within a Glad Bag with its end cut off, may not give you a desired result without a lot of practice.

Good quality plastic bags are available too, and are not too much money.

To answer your question, I'm not sure what you have already. Put I do recommend going to a good cake store and looking at the nozzles they may have in stock.:-)

Wilton Nozzles will vary in price, depending on how fancy they are, up to about $3.70 a nozzle. You can buy the Wilton bags and bag clips which help hold your mixture down and firmly into the bag.

Thank you. I definitely need to practice. I will buy maybe 2 nozzles and see how I go.

Do you sell other Wilton products in your online store cookessentials!

I would suggest starting with a 1M and 1A and building your collection from there.
