Strawberry and rhubarb jam how much sugar per.?

I have been going from a recipe that says for every 500g strawberries, add 250g rhubarb and 125g sugar. Soak half sugar and fruit over night then boil etc etc etc
I've never made this sort of jam before but usually all my jams have alot more sugar in them. Does this sound right!

1kg of fruit to 1kg of sugar.
Anything less (of sugar) and you will have to freeze to keep it "preserved".

Thanks I thought it didn't sound right I also just did a google search and found another one that says 500g of both fruit then 900g of sugar and thought that sounded better! Now that I have added 125g of sugar to leave over night should I add more or just leave till morning and add more when I cook it!

I would add the rest of the sugar when you cook it.

Good luck with your jam making. Rhubarb and strawberry jam used to be very popular here :)

Turned out great! So delish my 5 year old eats by the spoon lol
Now I have excess of strawberries so thinking jam! But also wondering if you can preserve like peaches!
