Eggs

Can someone please tell me how to tell if eggs are fresh! I can't remember if they float when fresh or sink. Thanks heaps and I hope you all have a great xmas.

sink when fresh, float when bad.
If still in doubt, use a saucer to break the egg into before using.

Yes if fresh they will stay sitting in water & if not fresh they will float on top.

They will often float because the air chamber is getting bigger as they get older - however they are still perfectly fine for baking or omelettes, scrambled eggs etc, just not for whole fried eggs (sunny side up).

Instead of worrying if they float or not, just get a glass and break each one in the glass then transfer to your cake mixing bowl.

A lot of people waste eggs like that unnecessarily.

When I cook eggs in Pot I prick each end to stop them cracking & to peel them tip out Hot water & then fill pot with cold water & leave in cold water for awhile & then peel under water as lets water in between Egg & Skin of eggs. Comes off easily.
