Left over chocolate cake, rum and enough condensed milk to combine. You can youse chocolate biscuits instead of cake. Roll in coconut or choc hail. I am making one out of a very dry Christmas cake this year. It is very yummy.

This is the only recipe I make for Rum Balls. I have had the recipe for years and we all love it. I never buy them as I find the bought ones very tasteless and disappointing.

Chocolate Fruit Balls.
125 grams Butter
¾ cup of icing sugar
2 tablespoons of cocoa
½ cup dried fruit
½ cup finely crushed plain sweet biscuits
2 tablespoons rum essence
Coconut (desiccated)

Soften but do not melt the butter. Stir in the sifted icing sugar and cocoa, then add rum essence and fruit. Mix in the biscuit crumbs.
Roll into small balls then roll in coconut.
Store in fridge until needed.
Makes approx 1 dozen – depending on size.

The recipe can be doubled which I usually do. I use ordinary fruit cake mixture for thefruit and crushed vanilla wine biscuits.
