I don't.They are perfectly edible in a chewy sort of way.My curries are usually full of various whole spices like cinnamon sticks, black cardamom pods, chillies etc so the eaters navigate around them as they wish.

Good on you.It sounds lovely.Watch out for stray star anise seeds - they can break a tooth.
