does anyone have a tried and true simple tomato pasta sauce recipe!

Sweat some garlic and chilli in olive oil. Add tinned tomatoes (chopped or whole, just mush up the whole ones).Add anchovies, black olives and capers and simmer til reduced and nice and thick.Add fresh chopped basil 5 minutes or so before the end of cooking.Serve over pasta with grated Parmesan and black pepper.Yum, I could live on this (and frequently did when I was single).

Yep - I second that, scarlett. Last night I came home exhausted, stripped the last of the meat off the roast chicken, quickly fried onion and garlic, chopped olives, threw in tinned tomatoes, added chicken, stirred through a little bit of sour cream and added to penne pasta. Served with asparagus - oh my god how much do I love the new season's asparagus - and all was happy in the household. Well - with only two of us, that's not too hard. lol! And Mr M eats everything with such gusto - even the disasters.
