use soy, almond or rice milk. Maybe goats cheese.

I posted a yummy vegan Alfredo sauce recipe on page 6 of the Easy and Tasty Vegetarian recipe thread that I will bump up for you.It is a yummy recipe, I use lots of mushrooms and sometimes use fresh peppers and sometimes the roasted peppers you get in a jar at the supermarket.
I add more garlic when the sauce is nearly ready and taste it adjusting seasonings if necessary.I also add 2t of white miso at the end sometimes although that isnt necessary.

For some fun, simple recipes that are animal friendly.

I'm not allowed to link to myself, but recently, I've tried my hand at a "Mint Chocolate Mud Cake"

heres the recipe my grandmother gave me

"Eggless, no milk and on butter.Suitable for vegetarians and Vegans.Stays super moist for ages.No eggs or dairy means longer shelf life.Very cheap and simple to make"

1 and 1/2 cup self raising flour (sifted)
1/3 cup pams cocoa powder (sifted)
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup veg/rice bran oil
1 cup cold water
1/3 rd tsp peppermint essence
2 tsp vinegar

Method

Preheat oven to 190 C.Mix all dry ingredients into a large mixing bowl.Mix wet ingredients in a separate bowl (except vinegar).Pour wet into dry and gently mix.Add vinegar and stir to blend.Pour into 240 x 170mm loaf tin and bake for 45 minutes.Cool slightly, remove from tin with baking paper and cut into 8 squares when cold.Optional - drizzle with melted dark chocolate."

yeast flakes! they give it the cheesy taste.

Some yeast flakes are better than others. I find the light yeast flakes are better than the darker variety.

agreed rizuba and frances1266 , I think of yeast flakes as being "nutty" too
