Anyone out there got a great recipe that will help me sleep "soundly".
Medicinal use of course!

This makes a wondeful nightcap,
For 1 serving;
1 TBSP brown sugar
thinly sliced rind and juice of 1 lemon
125mls (1/2 cup) water
1-2 slices root ginger (optional) 1-2 Tbsps whisky
Measure sugar, lemon rind, juice, and water into a microwave proof bowl. Add ginger if desired. Heat at full power for 45seconds or until hot but not boiling. Stir and then add whisky to taste.
*Variation*: replace lemon, ginger and sugar with suitable quantities of commercially made lemon cordials.
Otherwise a whisky and milk can do the trick!

I have drunk many of the above mentioned in country Kerry . for medicinal purposes only of course . and they were prepared very similar to the recipe above - except for the addition of a slice of lemon studded with 6 whole cloves and easy on the water!

Hot Buttered Rum
This is a welcoming drink for a cold night: The butter is an essential flavouring, without it you will get a quite different drink
For 1 large serving:
1 cup apple juice
cinnamon stick
2-3 cloves
curl of lemon or orange. 2-4TBSPS rum
1/2-1 TBSP butter
In a microwave jug combine juice, spices, and rind.
Microwave at full power for 2mins, or until hot but not boiling. Add rum and butter.
Stir and serve with a cinnamon stick.
*Got this recipe from an old English pub*

Thanks KInna.
I like the idea of the fresh ginger.
