Topside Roast

I've got a 2 kg topside roast to cook for tonight. It's fully thawed. I've never cooked one before and on googling it I found that its recommended to cook it at 150 d for two hours after searing it in a pan? I also saw that a meat thermometer is a help to make sure it reaches 55 d for medium rare.

Has anyone some experience to bear on this idea?

Have a look at Fishers site - this is the recipe I always follow.

try doing it as a pot roast.
Brown meat first, then put into a large enough pan along with a ptk onion soup mix, beef oxo cube, seasonings, and enough water to cover. This make a delicious gravy.
These days I prefer to cook it in the slow cooker but you won't have time to do that today

Hey all, the roast turned out pretty good. I used jan2242's link. I'm not a great meat eater but the guys liked it.
