Raw sugar instead of white?

Might be a silly question, but wondering if raw sugar can be used instead of white in cooking, baking & jam making, or is white better in some things?

I often use raw sugar in baking. I haven't used it in jam.

Depends, brown alters the taste.

I use raw sugar for most of my baking and for coffee but like poster #2 I haven't used it for jam making. :)
