Normal flour/gluten free flour

I'm stilllearning about'gluten free' menus.Can recipes that use 'normal standard flour' just be substituted for 'gluten free flour' or is there more to it than purely substituting one for the other.Many thanks.

toeblister,yes you can substituted flour for gf flour,a tip from melford if you are using bakels flour use more gf baking powder.
If the recipe says 2 tesp baking powder,use 4 .
I do it all the time,and have found know difference.

A big thanks to you earthangel. ( I did buy bakels flour as you suggested) on another thread. The tip about the baking powder I appreciate all the help you give me :)
