Hi.I'm not the best cook but have made it my resolution to improve (much to hubby's delight) and try cooking things I haven't made before.i've never made a quiche, want to try but the recipe calls for self raising flour which I don't have. Can I use ordinary flour & baking powder, at what ratio? Thanks.

chell_j, you certainly can use ordinary flour + baking powder.Opinions vary as to how much baking powder should be added to plain/ordinary flour when substituting for self-raising flour - some say 1, 1½ or 2 tsp baking powder per 1 cup flour. If you were making items such as scones I recommend that you definitely use 2 tsp baking powder per 1 cup flour; however for the recipe that you currently need the self-raising flour the advice as teddy147 has given should suffice.

Hope that helps.:-))
