Hi knowledgable ones.

Is rice wine vinegar the same as Chinese cooking wine?

If not, what would be the closest substitute?

From what I've read, sherry is an OK substitute for Chinese cooking wine (shoaxing wine) and White wine vinegar is an OK sub for rice wine vinegar.
