help I have a recipie that needs rice wine or dry sherry, I have neither on hand and local spice shop has run out of rice wine what can i use instead or should i leave it out? (its only 2 teaspoons) thnaks

Gin according to a Chinese friend but I've never tried it.She says its closer than dry sherry.
