Have prepared t/relish and will make tomorrow night. My friend never sterlises the jars, I do or am I wasting my time.Question 2 - I live along way from shops and only have self raising flower to thicken, receipe states plain flower, will self raising be ok.Thank you.

use cornflour if you have no plain flour ..... self raising doesn't really work.
Always sterilise your jars, you can then put your relish into the hot jars, while it is still hot. You are not wasting your time, in a way its a health issue.
Enjoy the relish

cant wait to make relish, it is one of my favourites, and even tho i have plenty from last year, will still make a new batch.
just love it thick on hot toast....mmmm, cant wait....
last year i added some chilli paste to one lot, and a chilli to another. very tasty, but not too hot.....

korbo, I add extra chilli each year and still they ask for more...There is a new generation of young adults who love their food hot - Thai influence, I suspect.

Sterilise them.
Flour in it? If it's too thin, boil it down more, I sure wouldn't put flour in it.
