substitute yoghurt and mixed spice??

Would really like to make the following recipe but have no yoghurt nor mixed spice, could i substitute at all please? ? or just omit?

Alison Holst's ZUCCHINI CHOCOLATE CAKE

125g butter
1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
3 eggs
1 tsp vanilla
1/2 cup yoghurt
2&1/2 cups flour
1/4 cup cocoa
2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp each of salt and mixed spice
3 cups grated zucchini/courgettes
1/2-1 cup chocolate bits/chips/dots

i found another recipe that asks for cinnamon rather than mixed spice but still not got no yoghurt. . would maybe half and half sour cream and milk do the trick? ?

jacqui248, IMO any one of the following would be suitable substitutes for the yoghurt... . .

buttermilk, soured milk (milk soured with 1 tbsp lemon juice or vinegar per 1 cup milk), sour cream, cottage cheese (blended until smooth). :-))

substitute your mixed spice with, nutmeg or ground cloves or just extra cinnamon.
like 245sam suggests re the yoghurt of if you have cream(you can sour it the same way as for milk) or use half cream half milk.
