For gifts, I would be looking at the apple jelly recipe.I have made this and it keeps better than the ordenary lime jelly recipe.
psst, we didn't like it tho, jelly is jelly in our house. mintsauce is put over everything. lol.
A little bottle of mint sauce would be a very welcome gift.

Anyone have a recipe for a thick mint sauce like you can buy.Don't really want to make a jelly.

pickles7, Dec 15, 12:43am
would it have a little gelatin in it, or maybe just thickened using a little arrowroot. The texture should give a hint. We prefer mint sauce over jelly. Why would you want it thick. If the vinegar is insipid, boil it down a little. I make all my vinegars now, because the flavour is just not there, in the bought vinegar's these days.

The one you buy is thick but still a sauce. It means the mint stays suspended in the sauce, it doesn't all settle at the bottom of the bottle. Easier for kids.
