A Home Made Christmas Gift

Saw this in the latest Women's Weekly for those of you who wish to make something as a gift this year. It is called a "Sand Art Brownie" You purchase a 1 litre glass jar with the rubber seal and clip top lid. You then need:
1 1/2 cups flour
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking powder
1 cup soft brown sugar
1/3 cup cocoa
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup dark choc bits
1/2 cup white chocolate bits
3/4 cup walnut pieces

Layer them into the jar in that order with a gift tag that reads

"pre-heat oven to 180C. Line a 20cm square pan with baking paper. Pour the contents of this jar into a bowl and stir to combine. Make a well in the centre and pour in 125g melted butter, 2 beaten eggs and 1 tsp vanilla. Mix until smooth. Pour mixture into the lined pan and bake for 30 minutes until firm. Cool in the pan and cut into 16 pieces."

Just decorate the top of the jar with some nice ribbon and hey presto. you have a ready-made gift.

Ive been making these for years as gifts. They go down really well.

You do need to make sure there is no gap at the top or the contents will shift and ruin the effect.
If my jar wasnt big enough, I added sultanas, nuts etc...

I had seen similar ones, but not for brownies. The picture shows it being pretty firmly packed.
