Rhubarb help please!

Have posted in Gardening too but I guessed maybe the good peeps in here would have info too!

Put a crown of rhubarb in last year (can't remember when exactly)...it's now going bonkers and doing really well....my 'blonde' question is....how do I know when it's ready to harvest..is it a colour thing, a end-of-season thing, a when-the-leaf-drops thing (like potatoes!)...I haven't a clue as never grown it before but just love eating it!!!

Any advice on how to freeze would be fab too!! Thanks all!

When the leaves get big like elephants' ears and the stalks are tall and thick and red, grip each stalk down near the crown and give it a sharp pull and it will come out (better not to cut with a knife).Discard the leaves (they're poisonous).I usually put the leaves around the plant like a mulch to keep weeds down.

Put 'rhubarb' into the Search field at top left, click the drop-down arrow to Anytime, and you'll get lots of rhubarb recipe threads.
