I am making my first bread. It doesn't seem to be rising as much as I thought it would. It has been siting nice and warm for almost 2 hours and has only risen a little. It also feels a bit sticky to touch. Is this right? Can I take it and give it a good knead again or not? Am trying to make bread rolls. Help!

It sounds as if the yeast is inactive. Was the yeast old? Did you mix it with hot water, which would kill it? Did you actually put the yeast in?

yes I put the yeast in! Yeast expires in a couple of weeks, so maybe thats it

what temp was the water? It needs to be body temp for the yeast to work well. If you think it won't make good bread, roll it flat and make a pizza instead. Should be good.
