Twist on Apple Crumble...what do you think?

Okay so it's not a huge twist... but alot of recipes say to add raisins or sultana's... do you think I could use chopped up dates? Not heaps but a sprinkling? My DP doesn't like sultana's but he does like dates so I thought it might work.

Would it taste okay?

dates and apple are yummy in muffins so I think they'd be delish in a crumble together :)

No reason whatsoever that it would not taste excellent.

Thanks, I think I will give it ago.

southerngurl is right! Dates & apple are a well-matched pair in many different recipes. There are many such delectable pairings that automatically come to mind - chocolate & raspberries, walnuts & cinnamon... :)

IMO almost any dried fruit with the apples would 'work' and be a nice variation - dried apricots, dried figs, craisins, prunes and of course raisins, sultanas and dates.
Do you add any spice? Spices can also be varied e. g. cinnamon, ginger, cloves (careful here as it only takes a little ground cloves to give quite a significant impact)... ... :-))

absolutely and a bit of lemon zest also would be a nice addition, perhaps with a little cinnamon?
