Cottage Cheese making at home

rog.e, Jun 26, 1:01pm
Can anyone please tell me the amount of Rennet to add to the milk to make Cottage Cheese?

I am going to use just 500mls of milk.

Thanks,
V

Can't help I'm afraid but I'd be interested to know how it works out, I buy a lot of cottage cheese. Is it cheaper to make your own?

A quick calculation tells me, from your recipe that you require 0. 35mls. Would you even have a measuring device capable of measuring such a small amount? A ¼tsp is 1. 25mls.

Out of curiosity, does the recipe say anything about using a Culture?

wildflower: I will post the results for you.

harrislucinda: Yes, I will use a teaspoonful and get a strong curd. I do use drained seasoned Greek-style yoghurt for cheese but am looking dor something a bit different.

buzzy10: Sorry buzzy, but the 'recipe' is on the packet in a very abbreviated form of 'cheesemaking use 7mls per 10 litres of milk', so not really a full recope but rather a curd making guide.

Thanks to all for answering me.
