When I was in japan they sell blenders with gold coloured blades. The idea of the gold blades is they can take ice. The non gold ones couldn't. I brought it back with me but tonight the jar broke. Can the blenders you buy in NZ grind ice properly in a smoothie and if so do they blend them so you can't tell they've got ice in them? Do they have the gold blade system here?

We had an old blender but it wouldn't blend ice properly. i'm wondering if the new ones you can get here now are better.

Yes they can, they have the silver/grey blades and they can blend it so you can't tell. I also have a Sunbeam Blender Stick it does the same thing but easier as you can move the wand up and down in it's jar to get heaps more movement . I got my sunbeam wand from Mitre 10 and it was recommended by Consumer Magazine.
