I have been wanting to make the ginger cake recipe from off the tv3 hottest baker programme but I cant find Stem ginger anywhere in the supermarkets. Does anyone know if it can be bought from the supermarkets? i might be looking on the wrong shelves. Is it in a can or a jar?

I would imagine you can use crystalised ginger, or add crystalised ginger to a little water in a pot and heat gently to soften.
