Pork

Hi,
I have a pork shoulder roast about 1.3 kg. being a male im stuck already
I was going to wrap in tinfoil and cook in oven for a couple of hours. the oven is a medium size fan oven
Is this how to cook it, how long approx ?

Nope don't cover in foil. Pre heat oven to about 175. Rub a little oil and salt into the skin. Cook for about 30 mins per 500gm. About 20 mins before it's cooked I turn oven up to 200 to crisp the crackling up.

Or you can completely cook the roast at 175, then cut the skin off and grill it till it crackles.

And packaged Maggi pork gravy goes nicely with it . Chuck in some potatoes, kumara, pumpkin, onions, one hour beforehand and you will have a yummy meal . better look for some greens though to complete yummy meal. When cooked, leave pork out for about 10 minutes to rest, covered with tin foil.

BIG Thanks people, Haha, it worked. did roast spuds and parsnips as well, all worked o k. no pumpkin and only peas for "greens" as since mrs had operation it hard to get her to eat any veges. wasnt a problem before
