Chilli con carne with black beans

There were no red beans at the Super market so I bought black. I started making chilli con carne in the pressure cooker but I found I was burning it so now I do the (red) beans only, in the pressure cooker. Usually I make it with onion, garlic chilli powder, mince and a can of diced tomatoes. Is there much difference between black and red beans?
Also what if I added bacon?

The Edmonds book recipe uses a green pepper, tomato paste, oregano.
tomato paste means less liquid and more intense flavor? Does it matter if carrots are added

I only ever use red beans. I personally would not like bacon in a chilli. The carrots would make it sweeter.

I used Red beans and the Edmonds book recipe but added a can of tomato.
