Freezing Beans

Does anyone have a way of successfully freezing scarlet runner beans so when wanted for cooking they are not limp. Ok if in a casserole but not as a vege on their own. Have tried both blanching and just slicing and freezing with no luck either way.

Blanch, then cool in ice water. Pack into bags and extract all the air before freezing.

I freeze mine free flow on trays before bagging.

I think its just how it is . so much better texture wise when fresh but once frozen the dreaded limp bean syndrome appears ! But at least once frozen you can eat them when your beans are dead in the garden too .

I have Scarlet Runners aswell I use a little plastic machine which the bean is pulled through, slices bean lengh ways and removes the sides ( strings ) it name is KRISK bean slices & stringer, costs less than $20, after I put in bag and just freeze, I just give frozen bag a bump on bench and remove what I want, I have at least 20kg in deep freeze, I think best thing out since sliced bread. I got mine of TradeMe.
Good luck
