Homemade kahlua and frangelico

The only way to make good home-made Kahlua is to use a vanilla pod - using 'essence' doesn't quite deliver the authentic flavour.

Has anyone done this?

Hi years ago I made kahlua and also home made baileys . Her is a recipe for kahlua .

1 cup sugar
1/2 cup granulated instant coffee
1 cup vodka
1 cup boiling water
3 tsp vanilla essence

Dissolve sugar and coffee in boiling water, add rest of ingredients. Bottle and leave at least a month. Improves with age(don't we all!)

1 1/2 cups sugar
3/4 pound whole coffee beans
1 vanilla bean
1 cinnamon stick
1 tablespoon cocoa nibs, optional

I have been making this Kahlua for years. You can do 1/2 recipe too.
6 cups Brown Sugar
4 cups Water
2oz Nescafe Mild Coffee( or any mild coffee)
3tsp Vanilla Essence
1 26oz Vodka
1/2 cup of Brandy or Crème de Cacao(Optional. I don't add to mine)
Bring all except Vodka and Brandy to boil in large pot, watching carefully as boils over very quickly.
Boil 3 minutes.
Remove from heat and cool.
Add the Vodka and Brandy if using.
Bottle.
This can be used straight away but it is so much better if you can hold off for a few weeks.
