To slow cook now or later?

I have a conundrum. I have frozen chicken intended for tonight's cheat simmer sauce tikka masala.I have to leave for work at 2:30 and get back at 6:15.

Do I defrost the chicken and turn on the simmer sauce in the slow cooker at 2:30 or chuck everything in now!There's only a couple of breasts, but I can't wait the 40 mins the sauce calls for when I get back, the kids will start gnawing on their own legs.

Why not prepare the whole dish now! The flavour will improve by letting it sit in the fridge and reheating later.

Haha. The imagery of your kids gnawing on their legs made me smile.
Sorry I don't use a slow cooker. Can't you cook the sauce before you go n a pot, then add the chicken once you get home!

i wouldn't put it in the S/C the sauce might split, i'd be doing it as #2 says if the kids can't wait.
