I was thinking of getting my sister some cooking lessons for her 30th birthday, dont get me wrong she can cook but i know she would love to learn from a pro

not just any cooking lessons my thoughts were with one of the masterchef type people (the judges) does any one know where i would go to start looking for something like that ! or does any one have any ideas on some where else to go

You could book a weekend away down to joe seagars cookery school. Both of you could do it. Great opportunity for you and your sister to bond and learn at the same time!

Google is your friend. Type in Cooking Classes Auckland and you'll get a whole list of results. Do you want just a day, week or year long class! There are plenty of options.

Sabato in Normanby Road do classes and I could certainly recommend them. I dida class many many years ago as part of a visit to sabat with my interior design class. We did risotto and it is the only way I cook risotto now which works beautifully every time. This would have been back in about 1996. Here is a link for you anyway. See what you think

New Zealand School of Food and Wine provide an excellent range of courses: http://foodandwine.co.nz/
Part time/full time/wine/barista.
I have done many of their courses over 15 years (including a full time 16 week course)and they are always excellent. They moved up from Christchurch following the earthquakes and have developed excellent relationships in the Auckland area with chefs, restaurants, wine critics etc. It is owned by Celia Hay a professional chef and wine tutor, who takes many of the courses herself, although they have a resident chef, winetutors and visiting guest chefs etc.
It is located right beside the viaduct. I would heartily encourage you to check it out :)
Good luck.
