Ginger beer problems

zorrodog, Mar 7, 5:53pm
Hi all,I have made many bottles of ginger beer with different recipes from here but have a problem with drinking them.
When I chill and then uncap slowly it froths up and disturbs the sediment which makes it taste awful, and eventually when able to pour, the fizz has all gone. Can someone help me with this,as I love ginger beer.Thank you.

Hubby usually opens our bottles, he does this very slowly & takes time over it.When I make the ginger beer I do not fill right up to the top but leave a gap for the process to work & the gases to form.

Try my recipe I make 3 bottles at a go, usually on a Monday morning.Plastic bottles. The recipe is in the thread close to this one.

When I make it, using powdered ginger, I make an infusion of the ginger then put the liquid through a fine sieve to reduce the amount of solid matter in the bottles.

Ginger Beer in a Bottle

Take a 1 litre ora 1.5 litre plastic bottle.

Fill half way with warm water.

Use a funnel & add 1/4 teaspoon baking yeast

3 teaspoons ground ginger

1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar

2 tablespoons lemon juice

1 cup or less of sugar (I only use 1/3rd of a cup)

Fill bottle to nearly full leave gap.

Put lid on & shake well.

Leave on bench in kitchen for 24 hours.

Then refrigerate.

Slowly release cap before opening.

Enjoy!

I Make two bottles at a time. One for drinking & one in fridge on stand by.
