recipe needs 2 cups of plain flour and 1 tsp B Pdr. I dont have enuf plain flour for even 1 cup.I have self-raising only. Can i just put 2 cups of self-raising in.

Yes, but leave out the BP

White flour plus baking powder
is the same as self raising flour.
Because it already has the baking powder in it!

So next time when you have no self raising flour you can use flour and baking powder.

Whatever you are making may rise more as 2 cups of SR flour will have more than 1tsp of raising agent in it. the usual ratio is 1tsp BP to 1 cup of flour.

If it is an aussie recipe you may get away with it fine as I believe their usual ratio is 2 tspns BP to 1 cup of flour.

I agree

My understanding is that it is 1t BP to 1 cup flour

So, if she uses SR flour, she will have more BP than the receipe calls for. But it shouldn't make a huge difference to the mixture
