Prefer to post here rather than elsewhere.I've just discovered chewing gum 'residue' on some plastic containers.Have been trying to get it off with Steelo but no real luck.Any advice appreciated.

Try putting the container in the freezer, you may be able to remove it when frozen.

lots of eucalyptus oil on a rag and rub at it.

Thx.Tried both of those. The "residue" is very fine (only way I can describe it) so the freezer thing didn't really work.Eucalyptus does work (just tried that) but I'm a bit concerned that the odour won't go away so I've used it only on the outside so far.

Think I'll stick with Eucalyptus . just checked and the odour (on the outside) seems to have pretty much gone so I'll probably be fairly safe rubbing it on the inside.Thx for your help.

Desolvit which is available from the Supermarket works a treat on glue, and the smell disappears when you wash the jar/container.
