Has an almond topping which is put on top of the nearly cooked cake and then finished off.Not your conventional almond iceing.Looks yummy.

Hi jessie - it has an almond paste covering.Recipe below:

Eliza's Fruit Cake - Annabel Langbein

3 cups pitted prunes, halved2/3 cup finely chopped apricots
and soaked overnight in1 cup raisins or sultanas
4tbsp brandy or whiskey¼ cup citrus peel chopped

250g butterAlmond Paste
1cup sugar1 ½ cups ground almonds
5 eggs½ cup caster sugar
2 cups plain flour1 beaten egg
1 tsp baking powderTo decorate
2 ½ cups mixed dried fruit60 whole blanched almonds

Preheat oven to150C.Grease and line a deep 21 cm cake tin with baking paper.Beat together butter and sugar until creamy then beat in eggs one at a time.Add flour and baking powder, dried fruit, citrus peel and soaked prunes and mix until evenly combined,Pour into prepared cake tin.Bale for 2 hours or until skewer comes out clean.Leave in tin and cover cake with almond paste made by mixing together ground almonds, caster sugar and egg.Decorate with almonds and return to oven for about 15 minutes or until almonds are lightly browned.
