Hi all.
I know there have been threads on old cookbooks here, but just wondering what ancient instruction manuals people might have.I have an instruction book called Better mals by the minute. This is from a hawkins Universal pressure cooker, and is dated 1949.
Cheers

I too have a small collection of similar books, handed down to me but they don't have printing dates on them. The oldest one that has a date is called "The New Zealand Apple Cookery Book" priced at 3d. published by The Internal Marketing Division, Featherston Street, Wellington in 1938.I find it fascinating reading the recipes and info put out in the instruction books too.

The main cookery book. 1937
Modern cookery 1947
Both superb books.

I have a selection of Cooking Manuals from old appliances. In fact, I still use a freezer manual when I'm freezing. It gives the best advice on how to process food for the freezer that I have ever come across even though it is fairly ancient.
