Why would you use it in cooking! the recipie said to melt it with choc.

You should still be able to buy it .. copha or Kremelta is a reasonable substitute. It is usually in a recipe to "soften" a chocolate item that needs to set. Or, it's there to "shiny" up the chocolate item ...
