Salmon roe,how to use? Mirin/soya sauce?

Was told to marinade salmon roe in mirin and soya sauce for a few hours to couple of days then use in sushi or crackers. I dont know what quantity to use.also wonder how safe it is to leave a couple of days.I have Mizkan a Japanese vinigar can i use this instead of mirin or is it very different! perhaps you have a good recipie for using the roe. Thanks

Mirin is sweet rice wine, and will give a dish sweetness as well as the fragrance of alcohol. Mizkan would not be a suitable substitute, as the vinegar will give a dish tartness/sourness.

It would be safer to marinate for a few hours rather than a couple of days.

Is it fresh salmon roe or smoked! I do a beautiiful smoked roe pate which is lovely.
