Help - Crumble with G/F Flour

nfh1, May 1, 3:48am
One of the desserts I am doing tonight is G/F apple crumble.I have made the crumble topping and have prepared the apples.Should I leave the two separate until I want to cook it - or - should I just chuck the crumble mix on the apples now!Don't want to cook until about 7.45.

Many thanks

Thanks so much - I did leave it off and will put it on just before I cook.

What was your recipe nfh1!. I do a GF crumble with rolled oats (I know some GF don't tolerate oats, but I can use), brown sugar, maize cornflour, cinnamon and butter.Yum, you have reminded me I have some stewed apple in the freezer that needs using up.

instead of cornflour or GF flour use ground almonds, really yummy in crumble!

I used Healtheries GF Baking Mix bookshelves.

300grams of the Mix, 110 grams Butter and 75 grams Soft Brown Sugar. It made a really fine crumble, which looked as though it was going to be really dry as it cooked, but it was good.I had intended to sprinkle some vanilla in with the crumble but forgot!

One of my friends is coeliac and cannot have oats either - when she comes for dinner I always make everything GF.I have been amazed just how many products have wheat in them since I met her.
