We enjoy.

BAKED PEARS IN GINGER SAUCE
2 large pears
½ cup brown sugar
1-2 tsp ground ginger
3-4 tbsp butter
1 cup hot water
1 tbsp cornflour
2 tbsp water

Put the brown sugar, ginger and butter into an ovenproof dish with the hot water.Melt and blend together.
Halve and core the pears (peel them if you wish but I never have).Place the pears in the liquid.
Bake at180ºC-190ºCfor 45-60 minutes - the time required will depend on the size and ripeness of the pears.
Remove the dish from the oven and thicken the sauce with the cornflour mixed with the remaining 2 tbsp water.Return to the oven for another 10 minutes.
Serve the pear halves covered with the sauce.
Serves 2-4.

When I have had surplus pears I double, treble or whatever the recipe and be sure to cook them until they are JUST cooked, then enjoy some freshly cooked and freeze the remainder - I prefer to freeze the pears separately and have them freeflow, then freeze the sauce either in meal-size or individual-size portions.A quick reheat, usually in the microwave, is all that's needed.

Hope that helps.:-))
